Light Vehicle Test Procedures

As of early November '18, VW advised that all built and in stock vehicles had been assigned to shipping status. These vehicles should be with our U.K. dealer later that month and much earlier than previously advised. We are scheduling vehicles in for their adaptations based on the date vehicle orders were received.

2018 was a particularly challenging year for new vehicle supply. latterly, changes in vehicle production as a result of the new global regulations, known more commonly as WLTP resulted in vehicle manufacturers changing their model ranges, dropping models and model options without notice or with delayed supply until they could certify their vehicles conformed to and met these new regulations, required by 1st September 2018. After this date, until a vehicle model range passes WLTP requirements, by definition, it is not available.

Vehicles not conforming to WLTP are unable to be registered after 1st September. Little or no information was available from the Dealer network and in some cases from the Manufacturer too. Because of this lack of information we were unable to confirm vehicle delivery dates.

We ask for your patience and understanding. This is a global issue and is not just isolated to the U.K. supply.

One of our main suppliers, Volkswagen UK, has said that, overall, the Volkswagen Group had expected the new WLTP test to impact the production of “approximately 200,000 to 250,000 vehicles” in H2 2018.

Some model year 2019 (MY19) vehicles will take longer to arrive than previously expected.  The cause for some is a delay in production, but for many it's because type approval is taking longer to obtain than normal .

UPDATE: The delay in gaining type approval is being caused by the transition from the New European Driving Cycle (NDEC) to the WLTP. This is an industry-wide issue affecting many manufacturers and models.

Affected Models

All MY19 passenger variants. Caravelle, California, T6 Shuttle, T6 window van, Caddy Life and Caddy Maxi Life. Crafter N1 (panel van and chassis cab) because of certain technical changes that need re-testing under the NEDC.
